\n\t\tThe eastern Mino district comprising Tajimi, Mizunami, <\/span>Toki and Kani <\/span>cities located in Gifu prefecture, Japan has been known for its ceramics industry and culture for 1300 years, blessed with high-quality clay soils and abundant larch to fire the kilns.\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThis is one of the world's biggest centers of ceramics production, with hundreds of related companies in the region from raw materials to machinery makers, including clay producers, the potters who produce the ceramics and the trading companies that distribute the products.\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThe ceramics produced here are called Mino-yaki, or Mino ware. The beauty of Mino ware cannot be spoken of without reference to the works of the Momoyama period in the 16th century. Leading styles at the time were Kizeto (Yellow Seto), Oribe, Shino and Setoguro, strongly implicating in the deepening of Japan’s tea culture and indeed the evolution of an aesthetic sense unique to the country.\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tCeramics production continues to flourish in a diversity of styles and volumes, based on centuries of tradition, a high level of skill and aesthetic sense while gently bowing to changing times and fashions. Craftspeople today produce ceramic items, cups, plates and other daily kitchenware, construction tiles and new ceramics.\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tMino in Japanese is komayaka na utsukushisa (“thick-textured beauty”). sight alone. It goes deeper. Mino ware is designed with the high aesthetic perfected over centuries in a region revered for ceramics, made possible by the high level of skill.\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tIn recent years, this region has seen a surge in young and upcoming potters, and their creative activities are stimulating youths aspiring to be people and objects is breathing fresh air into the Mino scene, giving birth to a movement of permanent innovation.\n\t<\/p>\n
